LEHMANN SCRAPERS
ABOUT US
The inspiration for developing the first Lehmann Scraper came about due to the limitations, inefficiency and lack of versatility of the earthmoving equipment on the market at the time. Thoughts began of developing a self-loading machine which would work in all earthmoving conditions.
The first Lehmann scraper was built in 1978 and had a 6 yard capacity – “Super Six”. It was on display at the Henty Machinery Field Days in 1978 where it won “Invention of the Year”.
There was a lot of public interest in the machine and over the following two years, orders were received to manufacture five, 4 yard scrapers.
In 1984 manufacturing of the scrapers began in Albury. By this time the scrapers had approximately 20,000 hours of testing, which allowed us to refine and perfect their design and workability. Initially there were three scraper sizes; 4 yard, 6 yard and 9 yard.
In 1985, the Lehmann scraper was awarded:
- Australian Design Award by the Industrial Design Council of Australia.
- National Energy Management Award.
Over the next few years demand grew for bigger machines. Higher horse power tractors were being brought onto the market, so manufacturing began of 12 yard, 15 yard and 18 yard scrapers.
Scrapers have been sold around Australia with some machines having worked 30,000 plus hours, only being maintained by replacing component parts.
Three generations of the Lehmann family have been intrinsically involved in the earthmoving and manufacturing business. The earthmoving business continues to work scrapers, tendering and quoting jobs, enabling us to compete highly.
With a philosophy of listening closely to our customers, Lehmann scrapers have been recognized for their fine-tuned engineering, producing a world class machine at a highly competitive price.
